Hoobastank: an undoubtedly brilliant band, with an undoubtedly terrible name. Their frontman has shared a TikTok video making fun of their choice of moniker.

Virgin Radio's Tim Cocker says: "I've always wondered what names they rejected if Hoobastank was the one they picked! All eyes on Chumbawumba to admit their own failings now."

"To be fair, band names are weird...Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day would be awful names if the music wasn't great."

Hoobastank gave us one of the biggest alt-rock ballads of the 2000s, but many jokes have been made about their name over the years.

The song has had a new lease of life thanks to TikTok with kids sharing it that weren't even born when it was released in 2003.

Now their frontman Doug Robb has posted a video, sending up the song and their name, borrowing one of the most popular lyrics: "I'm not a perfect person"

He stares at a framed platinum album, as  plays and he lip-syncs “I’m not a perfect person".

The caption reads: “Realizing 20 years later that you named your band Hoobastank.”

Robb also has a dig at Chumbawumba and Jamiroquai. Fans are so excited to have the band on the app, with plenty of supportive comments on the video.
