Mamma Mia! producers are behind exciting new Cher biopic as the star announces news

Can you Believe it? Cher's got a biopic on the way. The superstar singer and actress shared the news on social media and revealed she'll be a producer on the film alongside Mamma Mia!'s Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman. 

With Universal Pictures backing the music icon's latest offering based on her life, the untitled feature will be written by Forrest Gump and A Star Is Born Oscar-winner Eric Roth.

The 100 million record selling singer tweeted in excitable capitals: “Ok Universal is Doing Biopic With My Friends Judy Craymer, Gary Goetzman producing."

The elephant-saving star continued: "They produced both Mamma Mia's and my dear, dear friend for years and Oscar winner... Eric Roth is going to write it... Forrest Gump, A Star Is Born, Suspect to name a few of his films."

Judy Craymer added: “Gary and I are thrilled to be working with Cher again and this time bringing her empowering and true life odyssey to the big screen.

“One cannot help but be drawn to and inspired by Cher’s larger than life talent, fortitude, unique wit, warmth and vision.

“Her unparalleled success in music, film and TV have inspired generations. We could not be happier to tell her story to cinema audiences.”

Fans gushed: "Exciting. I’m ready."

Another added: "I have been waiting for this since I was 15! It only took 50 years! When will it be done?"

Cher replied: "I had more life to live."
