Ahead of the release of their hotly-anticipated greatest hits collection, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have unveiled a new track, entitled Flying On The Ground.

In a typically modest mood, the Mancunian musician said, “Flying On The Ground is literally the best thing I’ve released since the last thing I released." In a statement, he continued. "If Burt Bacharach wrote for Motown this is what it would sound like … only not as good … obviously.”

This new tune is the second to be taken from Noel’s band’s forthcoming best-of album, Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021).

Along with the new song comes a video starring Matt Smith and Gala Gordon. This new clip follows the video for previous single We’re On Our Way Now, which also featured the same actors.

Directors Dan Cadan and Jonathan Mowatt said, “This video reveals the true darkness behind the relationship between our protagonists … and its tragic undoing.

"A blatant nod to ‘A Bout De Souffle’ and ‘Bande A Part’ (’The Outsiders’), Matt and Gala were left to their own devices to improvise each scene within both videos.”

Noel briefly pops up in the stylish new video too.

Greatest hits colelction, Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021) is a double album, curated and compiled by Noel.

It comes out this Friday (11th June).
