The Rasmus are back and hoping to represent Finland in the Eurovision song contest.

Decades after they shot to fame for 'In The Shadows', the band have a new line-up and are in the running to represent their country.

The band will perform the track in a live televised competition on January 26, to decide who will be put forward to represent Finland.

Singer Lauri Ylönen says: “Jezebel is about a girl who takes what she wants, without asking. A free spirit.”

Watch the lyric video for the new song below:

The band teamed up with a producer responsible for hits from Aerosmith and Bon Jovi, called Desmond Child.

He said: “Lauri gives me a call and says, ‘Hey, I need to write the biggest, greatest song in the entire world, ever. Will you do it [with me]?’ and I said ‘Yeah but I am in Folegandros [Greece]’ and he says, ‘I’ll be right there.’ Jezebel is an homage, a tribute, to the strong women of today, who own their bodies, who are in charge of their sensuality, their sexuality, and who are determined to be an equal.”

As well as returning with a new song, there's a new face in the band too after their founding guitarist announced he has left.

Pauli Rantasalmi said: “I have decided to make my departure from the band and seek for new adventures and challenges in life.

He added: “I want to thank everybody that has made this journey possible, especially all you amazing Fans, for the best moments and memories, I Love You.”

His replacement is Emilia ‘Emppu’ Suhonen.

The band have also announced a European tour for later this year.
