Having just scored their third number one album, Bastille have been added to an already amazing line-up at this year’s Kendal Calling. They will headline the festival along with Supergrass, Stereophonics and Haçienda Classical.

The announcement follows news that one of the previously-announced headliners will no longer be playing at the festival, which takes place in the Lake District this July.

The official Kendal Calling Twitter account wrote: “Despite all efforts to make it work, unfortunately, The Streets won't be able to join us this Summer.”

Whilst this is bad news for anyone planning to attend this year’s event, the blow was certainly softened by the news that Bastille would replace Mike Skinner’s act.

“Chart-topping legends @bastille will now close out our biggest weekend in the fields yet!” the Twitter account added, complete with a fire emoji.

The four headline acts are certainly not the only highlights of the festival, which returns after being cancelled in 2021. The Wombats, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Sports Team are also playing.

Amongst the rest of the bill are Craig David, The Vaccines, Pale Waves, Sea Girls, and Orla Gartland.

Another act on the line-up is English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Alfie Templeman, who just last Friday played a superb live session on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky.

Speaking at the end of last year about the festival, Kendal Calling co-founders Andy Smith and Ben Robinson said: “2022’s festival is three years in the making – organising festivals is never easy, yet despite the false starts and setbacks encountered we have never been more geared up as we prepare for the festival of a lifetime.

Regarding the line-up, they added: “It’s a marvellous medley of our favourite musicians and we’re so very excited to share them with you.”

If you are thinking of heading along to the festival, you should probably book your ticket soon, as Kendal Calling is advising that “Just 5% of tickets remain”.

Kendal Calling takes place at Lowther Deer Park between 28-31 July 2022. For tickets, visit kendalcalling.co.uk.
