An unreleased album from Prince under his alter-ego ‘Camille’ is to be unleashed on the world by Third Man Records.

‘Camille’ was written and recorded by the late musician in 1986 under his short-lived feminine alter ego of the same name.

However, the work never got to see the light of day as it was scrapped shortly after test pressings of the album were produced, so fans never got to hear it.

Well, now they will.

In an interview with Mojo, Third Man Records co-founder Ben Blackwell revealed they were dedicated to making sure ‘Camille’ is finally heard.

He said: “We’re finally going to put it out”.

The co-founder also revealed they had gotten the seal of approval from the late singer’s estate, adding: “Prince’s people agreed- almost too easy.”

‘Camille’ will be made up of eight tracks and you may recognise a couple as all the songs have been released in some way before- but never in the form of an album. Plus, the albums that the songs do appear on are often not easy to come by either.

For example, some of the songs feature on ‘Sing O’ The Times’, but a couple only made it on the 2020 Super Deluxe version of the album.

The tracks that will appear on ‘Camille’ are as follows:

  • ‘Rebirth Of The Flesh’

  • ‘Housequake’

  • ‘Strange Relationship’

  • ‘Feel U Up’

  • ‘Shockadelica’

  • ‘Good Love’

  • ‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’

  • ‘Rockhard In A Funky Place’

This news comes after another ‘lost’ Prince album was released last year. ‘Welcome 2 America’ was finally given the go-ahead over a decade after it was finished, giving Prince fans the rare opportunity to hear some fresh music from the singer.
