Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy is back with the follow up to his 2021 track Better Days.

He’s just released his new single, Something To Someone, which centres around finding comfort in a distant love.

In a statement announcing the release, Dermot said: “To be something to someone. To love and be loved in return. What a comforting thought it is to know that no matter what you endure, no matter how lonely the world may seem, you’re still on somebody’s mind.

“It is the only thing. I want this song to be a reminder to whoever hears it that they are loved."

Not only is Dermot putting out long-awaited new music, but he’ll get to perform it in front of thousands of fans when he takes on his biggest ever tour of Australia this month.

After that, the Outnumbered singer will head back to take on nine huge headlining shows across the UK and Ireland, which are already sold out.

It’s a busy summer for Dermot, who will also support Shawn Mendes on the North American leg of his 2022 Wonder The World tour from June to August.

When September rolls around, Dermot will join the Arctic Monkeys and Tame Impala to headline Electric Picnic 2022.

Around 70,000 attendees are set to descend on the 600-acre site in Stradbally in County Laois, where the likes of Snow Patrol, Anne-Marie and Wolf Alice will also perform.

Sharing the full line-up on Twitter at the time, Dermot proudly commented: “It feels surreal to announce that I’ll be headlining @EPfestival this year.

“I first played EP 7 years ago, to about 20 people sitting in front of the stage at 2 in the afternoon. And I almost didn’t make my set cause they wouldn’t let me into the Artist car park in my old Ford.

“The people working there didn’t believe I was actually playing cause I just rocked up with my guitar in the passenger seat!! So you know it’s gonna be special, I’ve waited and waited for my turn, 70,000 people this time. Thank you!!!”

Dermot Kennedy’s new single, Something To Someone, is out now.
