Coldplay are in the midst of their Music Of The Spheres world tour, and they have launched a free app for fans to make their journeys to and from the shows as eco-friendly as possible.

The quartet started their tour in March, having announced that they were aiming for a massive emphasis on it being environmentally friendly.

Now, with Coldplay taking on North America from today (6th May), they are encouraging fans to download the app, which provides information for fans on how to travel in ways that are better for the planet, so that they can plan a green journey. There are merchandise discount rewards available for fans who choose low-carbon trips.

“We’re really proud of the Music Of The Spheres World Tour app”, the band said in a statement. “For the past few years, we’ve been figuring out how to put sustainability at the heart of our tour. The app is a big part of that. You can use the app to figure out the cleanest and greenest ways to get to and from the concert.”

They continued: “It also allows us to see how people have travelled to and from the shows so that we can drawdown all those emissions. You can also get right to the heart of the tour with exclusive photos, performances and behind-the-scenes access”.

The app will also offer Coldplay-themed games and AR experiences, along with behind-the-scenes content, and even an audio livestream from one of their upcoming European tour dates.

The average fan carbon footprint is reportedly currently down approximately 50 percent from Coldplay’s A Head Full Of Dreams Tour a few years back.

Tickets for the UK leg of the band’s tour - which includes six nights at Wembley Stadium and two at Hampden Park in Glasgow - have largely sold-out, but if you’re heading along to one of the shows, then you can download the app here and work out your journey.
