Arcade Fire have announced details of a new world tour, in support of their new album ‘WE’.

The band released the record – their sixth to date – earlier today (May 6th) and will hit the road in September, following one-off dates in New Orleans, New York, Coachella, and London.

The WE tour begins in Dublin on August 30th, taking the group across the United Kingdom and into Europe throughout September. Here Feist will support. The North American leg of the tour will begin in Washington D.C. on October 28th, feature support from Beck playing acoustically, until a final stop in Toronto, Canada on December 1st.

Tickets for all tour dates will go on general sale to the public at 10am local time next Friday (May 13th). Arcade Fire has partnered with the social and environmental justice non-profit PLUS1 on the tour to ensure that £1/$1/€1 from every ticket will go to KANPE, a foundation committed to supporting the most vulnerable communities in Haiti.

Speaking to music bible NME, Arcade Fire have also opened up about the departure of founding member Will Butler from the group.

In a series of tweets posted on March 19th, Will revealed that he had left the band at the end of 2021, saying that it was “time for new things” and that the band remain his “friends and family”.

“Hi friends - I’ve left Arcade Fire,” he wrote. “I left at the end of last year, after the new record was complete. There was no acute reason beyond that I’ve changed—and the band has changed—over the last almost 20 years. Time for new things.”

He added: “Thank you to anyone who’s come out to AF shows, or bought a record, or loves our music. It’s meaningful to be part of your lives. Thank you to the crew, staff, management, label people, bands, artists, and friends who have helped bring our vision to life for so many years. The band are still my friends and family. I’ll be around! See you around!”

Discussing his younger brother’s next move, Win told NME: “He’s our family and everyone in the band’s family, and he’s such a brilliant guy – he has so many things that just aren’t this band.”

Win added: “And on a human level, he’s got three young children, he just has so much other stuff to do – we’re fully supportive of his path, and can’t wait to see it.”
