Iconic singer-songwriter Adele has shared a new seven-minute clip, in which she floats down a river with a glass of vino in her hand.

The video is for fan-favourite, I Drink Wine, taken from the artist’s massive-selling fourth album, 30, which landed last year. The song addresses Adele's divorce, and the lyrics are also about shedding one's ego.

In the clip, which was directed by Joe Talbot, the songstress wears a sparkling gown as she floats past various people, including a group of fishermen, before encountering some synchronised swimmers. The video features appearances from actor Jimmie Fails and poet and author Olivia Gatwood.

As her journey along the waterway comes to an end, and the song finishes to gentle piano and organ sounds, Adele takes a sip from her wine, looks distinctly unimpressed, and tosses the glass away, before the camera pans out to reveal the studio in which the clip was filmed.

I Drink Wine is track seven on Adele’s latest album, and was the third single to be lifted from the record, following Easy On Me and Oh My God. Despite this, the North London artist has revealed that her latest clip was actually the first to be filmed. In a tweet, she said: “The I Drink Wine video was the first one I shot for this album.”

The visuals float into our world almost an entire year after 30 was released in November 2021.

Safe to say fans were excited for the video to arrive. One commenter wrote: “Seems like Adele is glowing more than ever. I Drink Wine is the type of song you’d listen to while watching the golden rays of the sunset in the horizon. It’s calm and it really gives you a peace of mind.”

Someone else said: “This brought me to tears. You’re amazing Adele. Thank you for your beautiful gift and for sharing your voice/light with the world.”

Another added: “Never expected a song about drinking wine to be this much of a masterpiece.”
