There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Pink performed her heartbreaking tribute to late singer, Olivia Newton-John during the 2022 American Music Awards.

The Grease icon passed away aged 73 back in August following a long battle with breast cancer, and the annual ceremony celebrated the legendary performer during their star-studded evening

So What singer Pink, decked out in a glittering ball gown, performed a moving rendition of Olivia’s 1978 hit track Hopelessly Devoted To You, which she sang as part of the Grease soundtrack.

While Pink belted out the classic tune, a picture montage of Olivia through the decades of her career appeared behind her, from her very early days, through to her starring role in Grease and beyond.

Speaking before she hit the stage, the Who Knew hitmaker told ABC7: “I had the pleasure of being around her several times, and she was as darling as you would imagine.

"She was such an icon, and it's a really big honour to be able to sing her [music]."

Elsewhere during the evening, Lionel Richie landed the 2022 AMA Icon Award, and made history as the only artist to have graced the stage in every decade since the ceremony started.

Accepting the gong, Richie thanked his family and colleagues, and gave this advice to young stars: "he said: "I started out here at the AMAs. And my career, to this day 40 years later, I'm back at the AMAs.

"What I want to say and take this time to do is to talk to the young superstars. God has given you a light. That light is special, that light is only given to a few.

"When you hear the word 'hip,' it means today. When you hear the word 'inspiring,' it means forever. If you get a chance to have that light on you, understand what God has in store."

Richie has 18 AMA wins, has sold more than 125 million albums, has four Grammy Awards and 12 No. 1 hits under his musical belt.
