Lewis Capaldi has said he hopes people will stop comparing him to older women after a fan’s dad mistook him for Susan Boyle.

The singer took to TikTok to make a video about the comparison after a fan said their father had apparently mistaken Capaldi for fellow Scottish singer Boyle.

“Lewis my dad saw you on TV and thought you were Susan Boyle,” the fan’s comment said.

Boyle is probably best known for rising to fame with her incredible audition on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.

Capaldi responded to the comment in a video where he can be seen sighing and shaking his head, while his song Pointless plays in the background.

The text on the video reads: “Great start to the new year.”

In the caption, the singer also said he was hoping 2023 would put a stop to him being compared to older women.

He wrote: “I dreamed a dream that ppl stopped telling me I looked like women in their sixties.”

Boyle isn’t the only women he has been told he has a likeness too either. Capaldi has previously been compared to politicians Liz Truss and Angela Merkel.

The singer recently announced he would be embarking on a huge world tour in 2023 to promote his second album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.

The album is set to be released on 19th May 2023 and Capldi revealed he had already shared it with Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John- but his parents are the ones who gave him the most feedback.

"Dad, you sell fish! I won't tell you the difference between a cod and a haddock" he said. "Don't tell me what stanza to change".

He also said he's "sweating" about the "terrifying" album release.

Lewis praised Ed Sheeran in particular for his help because he said he could relate after the pressure of his successful second record.
