Red Hot Chili Peppers fans think the band could be performing at Glastonbury this year after bassist Flea shared a weird social media post.

So far, only Elton John has been confirmed as a headliner for the festival this year and there have been rumours Guns ‘N’ Roses could be joining him after Duff McKagan appeared to confirm their slot last week.

Other rumoured acts include Artic Monkeys and Roxy Music for the legends slot but other than that, we’ve been left largely in the dark about who to expect on the pyramid stage in 2023.

Now, it seems another band has been added to the mix after Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Flea retweeted a sketch of the infamous stage drawn by Glastonbury’s own and Radiohead artist Stanely Donwood.

Flea simply retweeted the image with the word “Yes”.

It doesn’t really give us much, but fans were eager to reply with speculations the band would be playing Glastonbury this year.

One person asked: “Is this a Glastonbury confirmation??!”.

While another said: “Finally Glasto!?”

A third added “Are you doing Glasto this year?”.

Red Hot Chili Peppers were meant to play the festival back in 1993 but had to pull out after Flea developed chronic fatigue syndrome.

However, this year the Chili Peppers are on a European tour around the time that Glastonbury takes place. Not only that but they have a gap for a potential slot at the festival on the 22nd and 23rd June. They will kick off the UK leg of their tour the following month at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 21st July.

Who knows, this could be their long-awaited Glasto debut! We’ll have to wait and see what Worthy Farm has in store for us as the full line-up is announced over the coming months.
