Lewis Capaldi has spoken candidly about his mental health in a personal note to fans ahead of the release of his upcoming Netflix documentary, How I’m Feeling Now.

Earlier this month, the Before You Go singer announced the news about the doc in a truly Lewis Capaldi way, with a spoof video featuring costumes linked to Netflix shows such as Bridgerton, Wednesday and Tiger King.

Taking to Twitter, Lewis decided to open up about his true feelings about the documentary, which he admitted will show the “extremely low points” of his career so far.

Using the notes app, Lewis posted the explanation, which read: “When the opportunity to make a documentary came up for me I was extremely hesitant.

“I think because I seem quite open about a lot of things whether it be in interviews, on stage or social media people assume they know a lot about me and my life but in actual fact I tend to keep a lot of things to myself as a matter of preference.

“Now that this film, two and a half years in the making, is finally coming out I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t wildly nervous.”

He added: “I feel like there’s a lot of things in it I haven’t spoken about before and in truth the whole film became way more intimate than I’d ever imagined so it feels like a particularly vulnerable position to be in.”

How I’m Feeling Now is a track that Lewis penned for his upcoming sophomore album, Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent, and according to the Scottish singer, is “a tune that’s all about something I’ve never really written about in my music before, which is my mental health.

He continued: “As much as the last 5 years have been the best of my life, I would be lying if I said it all hasn’t taken its toll mentally and honestly, there have been some extremely low points and that’s what this song is about.”

Lewis then confirmed the first trailer for How I’m Feeling Now will be out today (Thursday 16th March), and while dealing with difficult topics, the Grace hitmaker did insist he was also “extremely proud” of the documentary, and called filming it “one of the most amazing and extremely peculiar experiences in my life.”

We’re also wishing Lewis all the best after he recently had to postpone his remaining European tour dates after falling ill with bronchitis

How I’m Feeling Now will be released on Netflix on 5th April.
