Alan Carr has revealed how Adele caused quite a scene at a recent stand-up gig.

The comedian joined The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with cinch on Friday (5th January) to discuss the second series of his travel show with Amanda Holden, Amanda And Alan’s Italian Job, which returns to BBC One at 8:30pm tonight.

In the eight-part series, Alan and Amanda spend their summer transforming another ‘One Euro House’, this time in Tuscany, into a dream Italian home. At the end of the restoration, the property will be sold, with profits donated to charity.

The conversation quickly turned to other locations that Alan and Amanda might want to venture to next, and when the discussion turned to Los Angeles, the Chatty Man star recalled the moment Grammy Award-winning singer and friend Adele decided to interject during his Regional Trinket tour.

Alan was on stage at the Dynasty Typewriter theatre when Adele decided to “turn up” out of the blue. He explained: “[Regional Trinkets] is about everything that's happened in my last year, and everyone knows that Adele married me and my partner, who's now [my] ex.

“I'm talking about the marriage, and then of course Adele comes along saying ‘I'm coming to see ya!'. So as I'm doing the material, she's going, ‘that's true! That's true! That's a lie!’”

He continued: “You know when you’re watching a film and you've got the director's commentary?”

Heading back on track to discuss Italian Job, the Interior Design Masters host revealed how covid lockdowns played a massive role in him and Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda coming together.

Alan shared: “We were doing that show called DNA journey and we were sitting around, it's in the middle of COVID. We were so depressed…then we read this article in the paper about how you can buy a house for one Euro in Italy, do it up and it's yours...so we bought the house for a Euro.

“All these young kids that go to Rome, they're gonna Florence, they don't want to stay in these tiny little rural places. Then yeah, we turn up!”

While Alan and Amanda are “in sync” with a lot of their decorating choices, the Changing Ends star did admit that his co-host’s tastes could be “quite tacky.”

“There’s this medieval watchtower and it looks like Elton John's spare bedroom,” he continued. “It’s got chandeliers, she wants chandeliers, murals, everything's pink.

“Bold Prints and the like. My argument is when we're in the middle of Tuscany, let's go a bit rustic, but she's like, ‘Elton John, Joan Collins, boom! Just stick a tassel on it.”

Amanda And Alan’s Italian Job series two begins tonight on BBC One at 8:30pm. Alan’s Regional Trinket tour, which took place last year, is available to watch now on Sky and streaming service NOW.
