Married comedians Rachel Parris and Marcus Brigstocke joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar to speak all about their brand new weekly podcast, ‘How Was It For You?.

Episodes land every Wednesday from wherever you get your podcasts, and offer a peek into the joyful mess that ensues when two comedians live together. Marcus told Chris: “We should have done this a really long time ago. All through the pandemic, we got really busy, we could only do shows online, and we did tons together and people really loved it. But then when it ended, we were so hungry to get back out into gigging, we sort of just left all that behind and went ‘right let's go out gigging’ and now we've come back to what we were doing.

Mash Report star Rachel added: “Doing like this Tuesday Night Club thing over lockdown. It was like a podcast, but it was on Zoom. And we did that for a year, and we learned how to do a podcast together and then failed to do a podcast!”

In the podcast, absolutely everything gets a review and a star rating out of five. “Mostly we're not getting into, was a piece of art that someone made good or bad?” Marcus said.

Rachel interjected: “It’s not a traditional review show. We're reviewing things in our lives. So for example, we're not reviewing the TV show Gladiators. But we do review the experience of watching Gladiators as a three generational household.”

Marcus told Chris: “The podcast puts us in the world of influencers, in that we're going, ‘We like these things, we're not so sure about these things.’ But we are actively trying to avoid getting stuff for free.”

When Rachel then questioned why he didn’t want to get some free macaroni cheese when they were discussing the food, he replied: “I'm saying at the moment because I'm on a diet, so at the moment don't send us any!”

The food theme continued when the conversation turned to Marcus’ recent 50th birthday celebrations. Rachel explained: “You know that thing where when you're young, when you say that you like anything once and then all your relatives buy you something themed? Like you once were watching a programme you're like, ‘Oh, it's a cute penguin’ and then your aunties and uncles buy you penguin mugs and pencil cases. Obviously that thing is cheese now. He does love cheese, yes. For his birthday, I got him a cheese birthday cake of different cheeses on top of each other. He got about six cheese subscriptions for his birthday. People buy him just a whole cheese.”

“I'm at least half-cheese,” Marcus joked. “Just put some pickle on my lap. And I'm good to go.”

Regarding their eating habits, Rachel told Chris: “Marcus has had an incredible diet. He eats really healthy food…” Marcus added: “But in massive quantities.”

Rachel continued: “Whereas I eat in small quantities, but 80 percent cake… His diet is definitely healthier, it’s just a lot.”

Marcus said: “If two people were eating what I ate, they'd be incredibly healthy.”

Rachel then suggested: “If you combined my eating and your eating, you'd get the perfect diet."

Marcus replied: “That's literally what we're trying to achieve!”

Episodes 1 & 2 of How Was It For You? are out now from wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes are released every Wednesday.
