The chef on his new role as a TV presenter, getting told off at work - and his mum suggesting he be replaced by Bradley Walsh.

Gordon joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky today to talk about hosting his own brand new BBC One game show Gordon Ramsay's Bank Balance.

He said of learning on the job: "We have some really talented individuals that sit and compose these ideas but when it goes into that practical format and it's missing some pressure I build that up. I want to see that level of intensity.

“We have great producers, great directors - in a way that they've been there, done that. We had some people from The Chase that were instrumental in putting that success together.

"You know what it's like, you need to get rid of the control jacket, get confused, get told where to stand, shouted out, screamed at, then all of a sudden two weeks later you've got your act together...

"And we were filming at Elstree, you know what it's like. The pressure is on even more because you know the archive and walking into those studios and then filming in the bubble, which was even more difficult.

"So, yeah, It's a tough gig when you're hosting something as live, but you're not live, but it has to be shot as live.”

On getting a dressing down from his own mother, he said: “I got a bit of a kick in the nuts from mum when she said, ‘Hold on a minute, you're presenting a bank balance show in a chef's jacket? Don’t be so ridiculous.'

"I said, 'No, I'm wearing a suit.' She said, 'Why don't you just call Bradley Walsh and let him do it?’”

Gordon Ramsay's Bank Balance starts tomorrow night at 9pm on BBC One.
