The Texas superstar joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about moonlighting as a radio DJ for the next two weeks and a rock 'n' roll bashing involving a bouncy castle.

Talking about pre-show butterflies, she said: “I must admit, I'm talking to you right now and I actually feel quite ill. I’m thinking, why did I say yes to this? I’ve got the jitters right now."

But The Say What You Want singer is keen to crack on while covering for Kate Lawler. She said: “I’m literally chomping at the bit to get in there. I was listening to Giovanna Fletcher and she did a great job and basically I'm thinking, what would I want to hear?

“In the past months I’ve been cooking loads of dinners and I go into the kitchen and I do this new thing where I see how long I can dance to a record for - and you think, can I dance to the whole record while cooking? It’s like a kitchen workout.

“I realised how unfit I was getting. I was nearly having a heart attack because I'm used to running up and down on stage and I thought, Oh my God, so basically I'm going to see if I can get everybody doing this while cooking the dinner.

“I’ve been dancing around and you suddenly go, woah…  I'm not running around with a big, heavy guitar and belting it out…. So that's how I'm going to get match fit - jumping around to songs and having a good time.”

What's been one of her worst rock 'n' roll injuries? She admitted: “I’ve had a few. I jumped on a big, giant, blow up trampoline castle things and I tore a ligament in my ankle.

“I had a big cast on my foot. That was because I decided to have a race with one of the members of the band and told him I’d kick his backside.” She joked: "I got rid of him after that."
