If the final episode of massively popular Netflix show Squid Game left you wanting more, then you’re in luck, because its creator has officially confirmed that there will be a second season!

Indeed, we’re going to find out what happens to protagonist Seong Gi-hun and his bonkers new hairdo, with the show’s creator/director/writer, Hwang Dong-hyuk, saying that he felt he had “no choice” but to continue the story.

Speaking with Associated Press, the Squid Game creator said: “So there's been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!”

Talking from the red carpet at a guild screening of Squid Game on Monday in Hollywood, the show’s creator added: “It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently.”

Regarding what we can expect from the next season, the director said: “I do think it's too early to say when and how that's going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will come back, and he'll do something for the world.”

In case you’re not aware of Squid Game, firstly, where have you been for the past couple of months? And secondly, here’s what you need to know. The first season of the Korean drama landed in September, with its nine episodes following the lives of a bunch of down-on-their-luck individuals, who accept a strange invitation to compete in seemingly simple children’s games. They soon learn though, that things aren’t quite as they seem, and the stakes are far deadlier than they could have expected.

The drama was so embraced by viewers that it quickly became the most popular original Netflix series ever made.

If you haven’t seen Squid Game yet, or if you want to watch it all over again, then the entire first season is on Netflix now.
