Jimmy Carr gives contestant £18,000 after mistake on I Literally Just Told You

An error on the show cost the player the jackpot prize, and Jimmy Carr put it right.

Carr hosts a quiz show called 'I Literally Just Told You', where answers to the questions are given throughout the course of the show.

However, one contestant missed out after they failed to tell him the actual answer.

The unlucky contestant, Eddy, from Glasgow, missed out on a whopping £18,000 jackpot because he couldn't correctly give Ariana Grande's age.

Jimmy decided to put things right, when they realised an expensive error has been made.

Eddy was invited onstage at one of Carr's gigs and handed a giant cheque for the jackpot total.

Jimmy said he needed to "own" the mistake.

The comedian explained: Now I’ve got something to tell you, I’ve got something to confess.

“You lost the money on a question – it was Ariana Grande’s age.

“We talked about her age but we never gave you the specific age so we messed up.

“And when you mess up in life, you’ve got to own your mistakes. Here’s a cheque for £18,000.”

Some questions on the show are multiple-choice general knowledge, but most are memory-based questions about facts and events that were shared earlier in the episode.

The episode featuring Eddy aired on Wednesday January 5.
