The force is strong with Disney+ right now! The streaming service has already delivered Star Wars spin-offs The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and it is set to launch its latest show in the series in May.

Obi-Wan Kenobi sees Ewan McGregor reprise his role from the Star Wars prequels, episodes I, II, and III, and Disney+ has announced that the show will debut on May 25th.

If that date rings a bell with you, then congratulations, your Star Wars knowledge is officially impressive, as that was the day, in 1977, that the first Star Wars film, A New Hope, landed in cinemas.

Ahead of the release of the new series, Disney has shared its poster on Twitter. It shows the acclaimed Scottish actor as Obi-Wan, walking through a sandy desert. Presumably this is on the planet of Tatooine, where the Jedi Master encountered Luke Skywalker in the original movie. The planet was the setting for many pivotal moments in the Star Wars film series, as well as both Disney+ shows, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will take place a decade after the events of Revenge of the Sith, which was the last of the Star Wars prequels. In the 2005 film, McGregor’s Obi-Wan was (and this can probably be considered a spoiler if you don’t know much about Star Wars) unable to prevent his buddy and apprentice Annakin Skywalker from becoming Darth Vader.

Whilst there isn’t much information about what will happen in the new series, we do know that there will be some other familiar faces from the prequel on display. Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse will be back as Luke Skywalker's Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.

Excitingly, Hayden Christensen will also be back as Annakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

The cast will also feature Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
