“It was a helluva lot of fun doing the first one.”

Matthew McConaughey has hinted he might be keen to return to the Magic Mike franchise ahead of the upcoming third film.

The actor appeared in the original film in 2012 as retired stripper and club owner Dallas but did not return for the 2015 sequel Magic Mike XXL.

In an interview with Variety, the actor initially admitted he didn’t know anything about the third film, which will be titled Magic Mike’s Last Dance but said he enjoyed working on the first one.

When asked about his participation, the actor said: “I’d have to read [the script] first. It was a helluva lot of fun doing the first one.”

He added: “Channing Tatum, call me, bro! I haven’t heard from ya!”

That sounds promising!

The third Magic Mike film would see the return of filmmaker Steven Soderbergh who decided to give up his director’s chair for the previous movie.

Also returning for the Last Dance film is Magic Mike star, Channing Tatum, who announced he would be reprising his role once again in November last year.

Filming is set to begin in March, and the actor revealed to People magazine that he wanted the upcoming film to be “the Super Bowl of stripping.”

He added: “I want dancing like we’ve never been able to do in the other two movies because we had to be honest to who the reality of that world is, which isn’t great dancing.”

For those of you who have seen the second film, Tatum says he wants to stick with the energy of the final dance in the XXL movie.

He said: “There was never anything in the real world that I actually stripped in that was even nearly as good as that [last dance].

“We’re already breaking the rules of that, the reality of that world. I want to have professional dancers [from all over] Russian Ballet dancers, I want to go for it and create a completely new genre of this form.”

That would certainly make for an interesting watch, especially if McConaughey gets involved!

A release date for Magic Mike’s Last Dance has not yet been announced.
