Fans go bonkers as it's announced The Bay is confirmed for series four

Celebrations all round as the ITV crime drama is coming back soon and will be filmed later this year.

Executive producer Catherine Oldfield teased: "We are delighted at how The Bay audiences have taken to new FLO, DS Jenn Townsend, played by the brilliant Marsha Thomason and how Jenn's arrival and her personal storyline has breathed new energy into the show. Together with [creator] Daragh [Carville] and all our amazing cast and crew, we can't wait to get going on the new series."

Fans reacted: "Absolutely it's a MUST. So happy fab news. Best drama, love the show, these guys are amazing. Roll on 4."

Another added: "Can't wait for Series 4."

A third penned: "Massive congratulations on getting commissioned for series four. I have throughly enjoyed series three, the new characters, direction and storyline. Been superb, what a finale, WOW!!! Take a bow."

Former Lost star Thomason recently told Digital Spy prior to the good news: "I had such a good time shooting it. We were shooting it through COVID, which obviously makes everything so difficult.

"And yet we still managed, with our masks, to have a great time… Hopefully we'll get us a fourth series, and hopefully we won't have to wear masks... I cannot say enough, I enjoyed this job immensely and this role."
