The true-crime drama Inventing Anna has been one of the most popular shows on Netflix for a number of weeks now.
It had viewers on the edge of their seats, but now the series has been knocked off the top spot by another popular Netflix original.
Vikings: Valhalla, a spin-off to the hit series Vikings, dropped on the streaming platform last week, and it seems viewers can’t get enough.
According to FlixPatrol, Vikings: Valhalla has knocked Inventing Anna into second place by taking the top spot as the most-watched TV show on the streaming platform. In third place is One Of Us Is Lying followed by Love Is Blind in fourth place and All Of Us Are Dead in fifth.
The latest of the Vikings franchise is not a sequel to the original show, but a brand-new story set around 100 years after the events of the first series, which lasted six seasons and generated a strong fanbase.
Netflix explains: “While the show includes references to powerful Vikings past- Ragnar Lothbrok, former leader of Kattegat, and his first wife Lagertha, both of whom were major figures in Vikings- you get all the context you need from the show itself.
“As on character notes in an early episode, ‘We are humbled and inspired by their legacy, but now its time to make our own history.’”
A lot of people have already binge-watched the new series over the week and are already asking when we can expect a second one.
It is no surprise they are eager after what turned out to be a rather bloody and nail-biting season finale for series one.
While no release date has been announced just yet, creators have promised that season two is on its way.
In an interview for Digital Spy, Jeb Stuart, co-creator and executive producer for the show revealed: “I am just finishing the editing of the last episode of season two this week, and I am dying to get it out there."
Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer!
Jeb also revealed that there would be a season three, and filming for that will start in Ireland later this year.
Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla are both available to watch on Netflix.
