Things could be ramping up for Tommy Shelby (again).

After a very dramatic first episode of the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders that aired on Sunday, many viewers (ourselves included) are on the edge of their seats to find out what will happen next.

In a teaser clip of the second episode, we are given a hint at what is in store for Tommy and the family, as well as the introduction of a new character, Lady Diana Mitford.

Lady Diana is the wife of Oswald Moseley, and, like her husband, Diana holds fascist political views. In fact, the couple was actually married in Joseph Goebbels's house with Adolf Hitler as their guest of honour.

As Oswald tells Tommy in the clip: “Diana is the engine of my enterprise.”

So, we can foresee her playing quite a big part in the coming episodes.

She is also known for being a rather prickly character, so it will be interesting to see how Tommy takes her on.

In another teaser clip uploaded to the Peaky Blinders official Twitter, Ava can be heard saying in the background: “You’re still looking for trouble big enough to kill you. I think you might have found it.”

Could she also be referring to Lady Diana?

On top of that, in an article for Digital Spy prior to the season six premiere, Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne revealed there would be a new female character that would have even Tommy sweating.

He said: “There's a great female character who is new, who is pretty dark. I haven't seen a character like her in Peaky before.

"I won't say who she is, but she certainly gives Tommy a run for his money. She challenges him in a different way basically. She's certainly not a protagonist and I don't know if she's an antagonist."

There is a high chance the woman he is talking about is Lady Diana. If so, get ready for season six to kick it up a gear.

In last week's episode, the cast and crew paid a beautiful tribute to the late Helen Mcrory who sadly passed away before filming for the most recent series began.

Peaky Blinders continues on 6 March at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
