The ultimate Nicolas Cage film is coming, and, judging by the trailer, it’s going to be unmissable.
Throughout his long career, the actor has appeared in a broad spectrum of roles. In his many films, he’s played action heroes (The Rock, Con Air), he’s done heavy drama (Leaving Las Vegas), he’s offered comedy (Raising Arizona), and he even played a reclusive truffle forager in the acclaimed recent indie movie, Pig. What he has never done, however, is play Nicolas Cage. Until now, that is.
New action-comedy The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, will see the actor play a version of himself who is feeling creatively stunted, seriously struggling for cash, and on the verge of quitting the acting game for good.
When Neil Patrick Harris persuades him to accept a tasty $1million to attend the birthday of a super-fan called Javi (played by Pedro Pascal from Narcos), his life takes an unexpected turn.
Cage, who was more than reluctant to go to the party at first, ends up having a brilliant time with Javi, and seems to have found a new lease of life.
However (and this isn’t a spoiler because it’s right there in the trailer), things take an unexpected turn when Cage is informed by a CIA agent (played by Tiffany Haddish) that his new best buddy is actually a dangerous and ruthless criminal.
The CIA recruits the actor to help them take the crime lord down, which requires Cage to prove himself to be the ultimate acting god, live up to his own legend, and take on the ultimate role: Nicolas Cage!

Also featuring are Ike Barinholtz, Jacob Scipio and Tiffany Haddish. The film is directed by Tom Gormican.
The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent will land in UK cinemas on 22nd April.
