Kate Winslet is making her next project a family affair.

Kate and her 21-year-old daughter Mia Threapleton will share the small screen together in the critically acclaimed Channel 4 anthology series, I Am.

The show, created by Dominic Savage, has previously featured the likes of Samantha Morton, Letitia Wright and Vicky McClure, and each episode has a personal resonance with each of the lead actors.

Filming on Kate’s episode, called I Am Ruth, will start filming at the end of April, and will mark the first time both mum and daughter have appeared in major roles in the same production.

In a statement, Kate said: “I have always admired Dominic's work and, in particular, his commitment to telling real stories.

"British television is at an all-time high, and I feel excited and honoured to be part of this community, especially right now."

The admiration continued for showrunner Dominic, who added: “It is a complete honour for me to be working and collaborating with Kate Winslet on this first film of the new series of I Am for Channel 4.

"Kate is such a legend, such an incredible and sublime acting talent, and I can't wait to start shooting this unique and important story that we have created together."

While it is both Kate and Mia’s debut together in leading roles together, Mia did have a small part in 2014’s A Little Chaos.

Mia’s dad is director Jim Threapleton, who was married to Kate from 1998 until 2001.

Her previous roles include 2020 horror flick Shadows, and will be seen in the upcoming TV adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons alongside Lesley Manville and Paloma Faith.
