Ben Shephard pays tribute to Tipping Point contestant who passes away and leaves fans in tears

Tipping Point's Ben Shephard has paid tribute to a nan who passed away after filmingand has left viewers heartbroken.

The host marked the sad news on Twitter and shared a behind-the-scenes picture of him with the contestants including the late retired school bus driver Cath.

He wrote: "Today’s Tipping Point is a poignant one… since recording the show, lovely contestant Cath, pictured backstage here, has passed away. Our thoughts and love are with her family and friends x."

Cath's granddaughter replied: "Thank you for your kind words for my nan, she was so excited that she got to meet you."

A fan penned: "Awww. That's really sad. What's odd, I really liked her very much and it was heartfelt at the point that the show was playing. This lady definitely lives on in spirit. Absolutely. I hope her family take comfort from this."

A second commented: "Awww, so sad, I was just literally watched it earlier this evening the episode."

A third wrote: "My deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family, may her soul rest in peace."

One viewer shared: "That is so sad, my thoughts and prayers are with her family at this awful time. May she rest in peace."

One fan gasped: "Oh goodness me, I was literally just watching her."

Another added: "Sending all my love to her family so sorry for your loss."

A statement on the official Tipping Point Facebook group read: "After the recording of today's programme, we spoke with Cath's family who shared the sad news of Cath's passing.

"Everyone at Tipping Point would like to extend their sincerest sympathies."

In happier news, our Gaby Roslin was on the show over the weekend and delighted fans during Tipping Point: Lucky Stars where she went brain to brain against GMB's Sean Fletcher and Strictly Come Dancing star JJ Chalmers.

She jokingly told her co-stars: "This is my father's favourite game so you two better watch out because my dad will come and get you if you try and beat me."
