Pistol, the much-anticipated Disney+ series which focuses on the rise of The Sex Pistols, is set to land later this month. And to get us excited, the official trailer has dropped.

The new six-part drama is directed by Danny Boyle, who is known for classic films such as Slumdog Millionaire and iconic 90s flick Trainspotting. It will be based on Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, the memoir of guitarist Steve Jones and, according to the synopsis, will “guide us through a kaleidoscopic telling of three of the most epic, chaotic and mucus-spattered years in the history of music’.

The trailer certainly suggests that this is going to be a must-watch show. “England’s terribly boring,” the clip begins. “Nothing ever changes.”

The clip then illustrates, however, that actually everything is about to seismically shift with the birth of the legendary punk band. Thomas Brodie-Sangster’s Malcolm McLaren tells the group: “You could change the world.”

Later, the band say: “We’re going to kick this country awake if it kills us.”

Disney+ UK shared the full official trailer for Pistol on their Twitter Page, saying: “Live for the music. Fight for the revolution.” The trailer also shows that the series will include other moments from the Sex Pistols’ history, including when they signing their record deal outside of Buckingham Palace.

As you will have spotted in the above clip, Pistol stars Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams as punk icon Jordan. Meanwhile, Talulah Riley, from Pride & Prejudice and St Trinian's, will play Vivienne Westwood.

The six-part series will also introduce Toby Wallace as Steve Jones, Anson Boon as John Lydon, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook, Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious, and Christian Lees as Glen Matlock.

“We’re not into music, we’re into chaos,” the trailer says. We’re definitely looking forward to diving headfirst into that chaos when Pistol premieres later this month.

In other Sex Pistols news, the band are re-releasing limited-edition versions of the classic tune God Save The Queen - just in time for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee! You can read all about it here.

Pistol is set to air on Disney+ on May 31st.
