Viewers of Long Lost Family were left shattered after watching the heart-wrenching story of Welshman Paul Garner who was abandoned in a public toilet when he was just a few days old.
Sixty odd years ago, he was found in a paper bag in a loo in Abergavenny and was fortunately soon adopted.
However, a few years ago, he was shocked to discover he was a 'foundling' after reading his adoption files.
The experts at Long Lost Family got to work and further shocked him by revealing he had four siblings, one of which has passed away, and that his parents are both dead.
An emotional Paul said: “It seems kind of funny to be left when I had an older brother and sister and two younger sisters.”
Meeting his older brother, his sibling revealed he had no idea that his mother had given birth to Paul.
He told him: “I don’t think that there would have been a day gone by that [our mother] wouldn’t have thought of you.”
A teary Paul said after their meeting: “They’ve made me feel welcome into their family.
“They’ve made me feel like I belong. I never had contact with them before, but I’ve got them now.”
Viewers penned on Twitter: "So heartbreaking seeing them wanting to have just a little thing in common with a parent."
"Times were hard but they went on to have two more kids. The pain in Paul's face says it all," wrote one viewer.
"Aww Matt this is sad," shared one user.
"Respectfully, I think the least you can do is give your child answers despite the shame guilt etc it’s not about you give that adult an answer so they can move on with their lives," admitted one viewer.
"Matt deserves better. I hope he eventually gets the answers he needs," pleaded a fan.
Another praised: "Outstanding that Paul is not resentful of his parents having his siblings before and after him. I don’t know that I’d be that calm."
