The A-list heavy Venice Film Festival is coming soon and a whole host of potential Oscar hopefuls and Hollywood stars are flying the Netflix flag with four original films in the mix.

According to Variety, Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera has begun his elite selection which includes Andrew Dominik’s Marilyn Monroe drama Blonde starring Bond girl Ana de Armas as the Hollywood legend.

The new feature has been given an 18 rating 'for sexually explicit content, making it the first release on the streamer to be given the adult-only certification'.

Then there's Noah Baumbach’s White Noise based on the 1985 novel starring Greta Gerwig, Adam Driver and Jodie Turner-Smith, followed by Mexican comedy film Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths and modern tragedy Athena.

A launch pad for Netflix’s Oscar hopefuls include lots of other much-anticipated movies including Bones and All starring Luca Guadagnino with Timothée Chalamet; Julia Roberts and George Clooney's rom-com Ticket to Paradise; and psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling with Harry Styles and Florence Pugh.

Amongst the other movie favourites include Florian Zeller’s The Son starring Vanessa Kirby, Laura Dern and Hugh Jackman. And Todd Field’s Tar starring Cate Blanchett as the fictional first female conductor of a major German orchestra.

The 75th edition of Venice is from August 31-September 10.
