Spider-Man and Home and Away stars join Scream 6 cast

The latest instalment in the Scream franchise, which is shooting at the very moment you read these words, has added another two members to the cast.

Bloody Disgusting report that Spider-Man's Tony Revolori and Home and Away's Samara Weaving (who was brilliant in 2019's Ready or Not), are the latest additions to the new cast. They're joining other new names, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Josh Segarra, Liana Liberato and Devyn Nekoda.

Returning stars include Courteney Cox, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega, while Hayden Panettiere will be back as Kirby Reed for the first time since 2011's Scream 4.

The latter revealed in an interview with Good Morning America: "I called them up myself and was like, 'So, you guys don't, like, happen to want to bring Kirby back, do you?' I wanted to be in it that badly!"

One name that won't be returning to the series right now is Neve Campbell, who as Sidney Prescott, has been the fulcrum of all the movies to date. Boooooooooooo.

"Sadly I won't be making the next Scream film," she said in a statement. "As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise."

She added: "It's been a very decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You've always been so incredibly supportive to me. I'm forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years."

The fifth Scream movie, simply called Scream, was released in January 2022 and was a commercial and critical hit, with the sixth movie green-lit in February. With a release date confirmed as March 31st, 2023, this will mark the shortest gap between Scream movies since the first (1996) and second (1997) films.
