The Big Lebowski star Jeff Bridges has a new lead role in The Old Man, coming to Disney+ in September.

A new original series, The Old Man, is described as a "riveting drama". It will hit our screens on 28 September in the UK with the first two episodes of its seven-episode season.

It will be based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Thomas Perry.

The Old Man tells the story of Dan Chase played by Bridges, who absconded from the CIA decades ago and has been living off the grid since.

Watch the trailer below:

When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past.

It's now down to the FBI’s Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Harold Harper (John Lithgow) is called on to hunt him down because of his complicated past with the rogue fugitive.

Chase proves to be more difficult to apprehend than the authorities expected.

Yet another expert is called in, in the form of Julian Carson (Gbenga Akinnagbe), a highly trained special ops contractor.

Chase rents a room from unsuspecting Zoe McDonald played by Amy Brenneman, who "draws on reserves she never knew she had in order to survive the day when she learns the truth about her new tenant."
