The official trailer for Sky’s latest original film, Aisha, has been unveiled ahead of it’s European premiere at the London Film Festival tomorrow (6th October).

Starring Black Panther’s Letitia Wright in the title role with The Crown’s Josh O’Connor as Conor Healy, the film follows the story of a young Nigerian woman seeking asylum in Ireland as she finds herself “floundering in a maze of social services and bureaucracy.”

Facing life alone and unable to meet the demands of the authorities, Aisha finds a friend in Conor, an employee at her residence home and local man with his own troubled past. Together they fight to keep their friendship despite Aisha’s increasingly difficult situation and rapidly diminishing options.

Written and directed by Frank Berry, the film has already received praise with the likes of Variety calling it Wright’s “most moving performance yet”.

The actress also recently appeared in the trailer for the new Black Panther film, Wakanda Forever.

Wright plays T’Challa’s younger sister Shuri and fans have been speculating whether she will be taking over the Black Panther name.

At the end of the trailer, a female character appears to be wearing a new Black Panther suit and viewers believe Shuri could be the person underneath the mask.

It marks the first film since the death of lead actor Chadwick Boseman in 2018 and during Comic-Con last month, Marvel released an official synopsis for the new movie, which reads: “In Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.

“As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

Aisha will be available in cinemas and on Sky Cinema on 17th November 2022.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to be released in cinemas on 11th November 2022.
