The Netflix anthology series, Monster, which kicked off with the terrifying drama about serial killer Jeffery Dahmer, has been renewed for another two seasons.

Ryan Murphy, the mastermind behind American Horror Story and American Crime Story, is behind yet another anthology format, which includes the intense Dahmer series, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new seasons will follow "stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society,” but no other details on who the upcoming stories will focus on.

After its release in September, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story quickly became a hit with telly viewers, and became one of Netflix’s most-watched series of all time.

The series about one of the most notorious American cannibals ranks at number two just behind Stranger Things when it comes to the number of hours watched within the first 28 days. It amassed a staggering 856 million hours viewed within only a month of its release.

The true story is told through the lives of the victims, with actor Evan Peters playing the twisted serial killer known as the Milwaukee Cannibal who was eventually imprisoned in 1992.

Actress Niecy Nash plays Dahmer's former neighbour, Glenda Cleveland, who was relentless in telling police officers about his worrying behaviour.

Evan previously said about taking on the role during an interview with Netflix: "Honestly, I was very scared about all the things that he did and diving into that, and trying to commit to that was absolutely going to be one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life because I wanted it to be very authentic.

"But in order to do that, I was gonna have to go to really dark places and stay there for an extended period of time.

"It was a challenge to try to have this person who was seemingly so normal but underneath all of it, had this entire world that he was keeping secret from everybody."

Monster Dahmer was beaten to death by another inmate in prison at the age of 34.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is available to watch on Netflix.
