Bruce Willis in final movie appearances in trailer for Detective Knight: Independence

Acting legend Bruce Willis can be see in the trailer for one of his final ever movies. The Die Hard star recently announced his retirement from films after revealing he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a condition which impacts cognitive abilities such as speech.

In the upcoming third movie, Willis is reprising his role in the Detective Knight franchise as Detective James Knight and stars alongside Hunger Games star Willow Shields. The official synopsis reads: "Detective James Knight 's last-minute assignment to the Independence Day shift turns into a race to stop an unbalanced ambulance EMT from imperiling the city's festivities.

"The misguided vigilante, playing cop with a stolen gun and uniform, has a bank vault full of reasons to put on his own fireworks show... one that will strike dangerously close to Knight's home."

Fans commented: "For once the accolades and applause should be heard and the standing ovations should be seen for the living legend that is Bruce Willis as it is too late when there gone. I salute Mr Bruce for the years of entertainment and forever grateful for the memories he has helped create... being his last movie make a change people and spread the love and make a difference."

A second added: "I want to see it."

A third wrote: "So sad to see his talent/ health dwindle on these last movies. I wish him the best life possible."

Bruce’s family wrote in a statement about his diagnosis: "As a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.

"As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.

"This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

"As Bruce always says, Live it up and together we plan to do just that."

Detective Knight: Independence lands in cinemas on January 20, 2023.
