Good news for Girls Trip fans! A sequel to the hugely popular 2017 comedy is officially in the works.

The original flick starred Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish, and followed the band of friends as they embarked on a trip of a lifetime to New Orleans.

Girls Trip writer and producer Tracy Oliver confirmed to Variety that the gang will be back for another crazy adventure while promoting the second season of her Amazon Prime series Harlam.

Chatting about a “definitive Girls Trip 2 update," Tracy confirmed: “It’s officially happening, I can say that.”

When quizzed if the cast would be reprising their role, the writer said: “Everybody is coming back. We’re looking to set it in Ghana.”

Cast member Regina, who played Ryan Pierce in the comedy, previously shared her hopes of a sequel to Metro, and joined fans in calling for another Girls Trip.

She explained: “On this one, I am as excited as everyone else to find out. I’ve heard they’ve got ideas and I’m scared. I’m like “oh no, where are the girls going to go?” I don’t know, but obviously, I’d like to see us in more shenanigans.

“But I’m looking forward to moving the story forward. We definitely have to have a narrative that is just as funny and also not the same, so it would be interesting to see what the writers come up with.”

The 2017 Girls Trip was a huge summer box office hit, earning $140 million worldwide. The hilarious flick was also nominated for three Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, with Dina actress Tiffany up for Best Supporting Actress.
