The BBC have announced who will be starring in Beyond Paradise’s 2023 Christmas special.

Following the huge success of the Death in Paradise spin-off show’s first season, the series will be getting a special festive outing ahead of its second series airing in 2024.

“As the residents of Shipton Abbott gear up for Christmas, Humphrey and the team are baffled by a series of bizarre burglaries which aren’t quite what they seem,” the special episode’s synopsis teases.

“However,” it continues: “When the team make a breakthrough with an unexpected connection, it’s a bittersweet discovery that makes them reconsider the true meaning of Christmas.”

Joining series lead Kris Marshall (DI Humphrey Goodman) for this festive mystery will be The Vicar of Dibley’s James Fleet, Sanditon star Isaac Vincent-Norgate and Endeavour’s Amalia Vitale. Still Open All Hours’ Kulvinder Ghit, Benidorm’s Sheila Reid and Bellowhead will all also be starring in this programme’s first Christmas special.

Sally Breton will be back as Martha, and Barbara Flynn will be back as Martha’s mother Anne. Meanwhile at the police station, Shipton Abbott’s finest will all also be returning, with Zahra Ahmadi, Dylan Llewellyn and Felicity Montagu all back as DS Esther Williams, PC Kelby Hartford and Margo Martins respectively.

The BBC have also teased how the often hapless Kelby will be tasked with babysitting a young shoplifter during the episode, meanwhile Esther will have problems of her own as her teenage daughter Zoe (Melina Sinadinou) is less than impressed with being made to work in a Santa’s Grotto.

The show’s Christmas special was once again filmed in and around the counties of Devon and Cornwall.

Beyond Paradise’s Christmas special episode will air in December 2023 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
