Rachel Zegler takes on the iconic role in a modern twist on Disney’s 1937 classic as Gal Gadot gets wickedly good as the Evil Queen.

Disney has finally pulled back the curtain on the long-awaited live-action remake of its 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and fans are already enchanted.

The first teaser trailer has dropped, giving us a glimpse of Rachel Zegler as Snow White, with lips red as the rose, hair black as ebony, and skin as white as snow.

If the trailer is anything to go by, this reimagining is set to bring the fairest princess of them all into the modern age—with a few new twists.

Helmed by The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb, with a script penned by none other than Greta Gerwig (yes, the genius behind Barbie) and Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train), this version of Snow White promises to blend the old with the new in a way that only Disney magic can.

And with Gal Gadot stepping into the glamorous yet sinister shoes of the Evil Queen, it’s clear that this isn’t your grandmother’s fairy tale.

Zegler and Gadot were both on hand at the D23 Expo to give fans a taste of what’s to come. "It's been the honour of a lifetime," Zegler gushed about playing the iconic Disney princess.

"I think any young person, any little girl, if you get to put on a Disney princess dress and be her for a day, let alone six months… it’s just been the most amazing experience and I can’t wait to share it with you all."

As for Gadot, she’s clearly relishing the chance to bring a bit of darkness to Disney’s glittering world.

"It was a lot of fun to get to do something that is completely different than anything I’ve ever done before," she said, no doubt with a wicked smile.

"She’s delicious, she’s evil, she’s magical. We got to sing all these different songs. It was incredible."

This live-action version isn’t just a shot-for-shot remake of the 1937 original. While it will take us back to the timeless story and beloved characters like Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy, it’s also carving out new territory.

Disney has teased a fresh approach to the narrative—one where Snow White isn’t just waiting for her Prince Charming to come and save the day.

In this new rendition, Snow White, guided by the wisdom of her late father, is on a journey to become a fearless leader, not just a damsel in distress.

“She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be,” Zegler revealed, adding that the story is an “incredible story for young people everywhere to see themselves in.”

Gal Gadot couldn’t agree more. "We got to work with such an amazing crew and it was just the best it could ever be," she said of the filming experience.

"I feel so lucky that I got to play something that is so far from what I know and what I’m used to, and I super, super enjoyed every second of it."

Adding even more magic to the mix, the film features new songs from the songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, alongside classic tunes from the original.

And for those curious about the male characters, Andrew Burnap steps into the role of a new character named Jonathan, while Ansu Kabia plays the Huntsman.

Originally set to hit theatres on March 22, 2024, fans will have to wait a little longer to see Snow White’s new adventure unfold on the big screen. The release has been delayed to March 21, 2025, due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
