A ‘Joker’ sequel is reportedly still in the works

It should come as no surprise given the runaway success of the first instalment, but there are rumours about a sequel being developed.

As yet there haven't been any official announcements from Warner Bros about a follow-up, but fans are still hopeful.

The Hollywood Reporter 

 claims to have insider information on Warner Bros’ schedule

They're reporting that has a “planned sequel”.

Joaquin Phoenix won a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of the troubled villain.

The report mostly featured the upcoming  film, however it claims that  “will take place in the same universe”.

The first film earned an astonishing $1.07billion worldwide.

Rumours of a sequel have been going since 2019.

Director Todd Phillips has previously spoken out about the rumours: “There’s no contract,” he told , “Joaquin and I have publicly said we’ve been talking about a sequel since week two of shooting because it’s a fun thing to talk about,” he said.

Whether that should be taken seriously remains to be seen. 

There are plenty of other DC projects to look forward to from Warner Bros.

As well as the aforementioned new  film, there's also , and asolo movie.

 James Gunn’s , is coming soon too, starring Margot Robbie, John Cena and Idris Elba.
