Gogglebox stars Dave and Shirley Griffiths tease an update on the new series

The cheeky couple left fans buzzing after posting a brand new picture on social media.

Gogglebox faves Dave and Shirley Griffiths posted a smiling selfie together on Instagram, and probably didn’t expect TV fans to start intensely quizzing them in comment sections. 

The social reality series has been on screens for a whopping 18 series, having started back in 2013, and was last on screens for the 2021 Christmas special.

While we reported earlier this month that speculation on the show’s big return for series 9 might be sooner than expected, Dave and Shirley sent fans wild when they seemingly confirmed the news. 

Fans were quick to jump on their Instagram post, which has over 10,000 likes, and asked when the new series might start, and to share their excitement for more of the telly-watching show. 

One fan wrote: “Missing you 2 on a Friday hope to see u back soon.” while another commented: “When will the new series be? Missing you both on a Friday.”

This lucky fan actually did get a response. They asked: “When is the new series starting ??”, and the couple replied: “February the 18th I think xx”

Followers seemingly jumped for joy at the news of Gogglebox’s return. One replied: “So excited, can't wait. Friday just not right without googlebox.”

It seems the news is true too! Gogglebox is currently sitting proudly in the Channel 4 schedule on Friday 18th February at 9pm.
