Grown Ups, a best-selling novel by Marian Keyes, is being adapted into a TV series by Netflix.

It was announced earlier this week that the romance novel will be brought to the screen as an “ensemble family drama”, with Australian screenwriter Samantha Strauss adapting and executive producing the series. Casting has yet to be announced.

Keyes took to Instagram to share the news and some details about the show. She said, "Hello, I've exciting news!!!!! Seesaw Productions and Netflix are adapting Grown Ups (a book I wrote) for THE TELLY!!! YES!

“It'll be 8 episodes, each an hour long. It'll be shot in Ireland and I'm already driving everyone mad with 'who will play Ferdia?!?!?!?'

"Seesaw have made HEARTSTOPPER!!!! And — be still my beating heart — only the best show of all time ever, SLOW HORSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The treatment and script I've seen are SO good. I'm wildly happy."

Grown Ups will centre around the Casey family, whose lives are turned upside down when a family member gets a concussion and starts to spill their secrets.

The official synopsis reads: "Based on three couples – Nell and Liam, Cara and Ed, Jessie and Rory, like most families, the Caseys are a complicated bunch.

"Ever-shifting politics. Old and new resentments. Arguments that blow over quickly and hurts that are nursed forever. They're loyal. Noisy. And bound together by a whole lot of love."

Fans of the book were delighted to hear about the news and took to the comments under Marian’s Instagram post to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “This is incredible and perfect and I cannot wait. Such fantastic story to adapt too - one of my faves 🥲🩷🙌🏻❤️ Congratulations Marian and yay for all of us.”

Another said: “oh congratulations, I’m SO excited to watch!!”

A third added: “I absolutely can not wait for this! Hope it's the first of many Marian adaptations.”

Grown Ups is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026.
