With Noel and Liam Gallagher having announced they are playing some huge Oasis shows in 2025, co-founder of Creation Records Alan McGee has spoken about how the reunited siblings will get on with each other.

Following news breaking this morning (27th August) about the return of the Britpop band, music label legend Alan spoke to Jayne Middlemiss at Virgin Radio about all things Oasis.

Alan, who signed the Manchester act back at the start of their career in the 90s, said: “They were real people, and they were honest in what they were doing and they had great music. But I think Oasis coming back is really good for music.”

Saying that radio stations “go for the most commercial type of music now, and rock n roll bands have sort of been written out of the script,” he said that the enormity of next year’s tour “proves beyond doubt how big this actually is.”

Oasis will play four nights in Manchester and London, and two nights in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin in July and August next year, with plans underway for gigs outside of other Europe later next year.

Saying: “There's such a demand,” Alan added: “It’s 400,000 [people] in Manchester. 400,000 in London, 200,000 in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Regarding the reunion, Alan admitted that “he didn't think it was probably on” until “about a week ago” and that he texted Noel yesterday to get the scoop. “He's like, ‘Yeah it's happening.’ And he's happy. So it's great,” the Scot said.

Addressing the somewhat antagonistic relationship between the brothers and how they will cope with that now that they are reuniting to perform together, Alan said: “I think they're really professional these days. I don't think it's going to be an issue. They're both in their 50s. I'm sure it's going to be fine.”

And on what it was that brought them back together, the Creation co-founder told Jayne: “I didn't ask them. They're brothers. I mean, it's family. You can always sort stuff out if it's your family.”

And on whether Oasis will make new music, Alan admitted: “I don't know. I have no idea. I've not asked Noel. Noel’s the one I'm actually close with. But I think it's just good for everybody. It's really good for music, really good for them as brothers and as a family. And really good for what I do, and for what you do. I mean it gives credibility to what you do and I do because people are actually interested. You can't deny this is massive.”

When Jayne said that she is “absolutely thrilled” for Liam and Noel Gallagher's mother Peggy, Alan told her: “I'm sure she's the one that's really behind the whole thing!”

He added: “Peggy's great. Good luck to her. And she's rocking on now. She must be about 80. But I'm sure she's behind it!”
